Last updated 22 September 2026

This explains what information I hold about you, why I hold it, and what I do with it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped. If anything here is unclear, call me on (475) 392-6237 and I will explain it.

The short version. I keep the minimum I need to help you. I never sell or rent it. I share it with your named Family Contact every month, because that is how this service is designed. When you leave, I delete it.

Who I am

My Grandson The IT Guy is a division of Stone Rabbit Technologies LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company. I am Mason Lapine and I run it myself. Reach me at hello@mygrandsontheitguy.com or (475) 392-6237.

What I collect

  • Your contact details — name, address, phone, email
  • Your Family Contact's details — name, relationship, phone, email
  • A list of your online accounts that you have asked me to help with
  • Notes about what I have done for you and when
  • Emails you forward me to check whether they are genuine
  • Breach alerts telling me your details have appeared in a data leak

What I do not collect

  • Your passwords. They live in a password app in your name, that you control. I do not keep a separate copy
  • Anything about your money. No bank, investment, retirement, tax, Medicare or Social Security information. I have no access to those accounts and I do not want any
  • Your Social Security number. I have no use for it and will not ask

Why I hold it

To do the job you are paying me for, and for no other reason. I do not build a profile of you, I do not advertise to you, and I do not use your information to sell you anything else.

Who I share it with

Three situations only:

  • Your Family Contact receives a written summary each month of the accounts I accessed and the changes I made. This is a required part of the service and you agree to it when you sign up. It exists so somebody who cares about you can always see what I am doing.
  • Service providers I use to do the work — for example the tools that check whether an email is a scam, or that alert me to data breaches. They act on my instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes or to train their systems.
  • If the law requires it — a court order or a legal obligation. If that ever happens I will tell you, unless I am forbidden from doing so.

I will never sell, rent, or trade your information. There is no exception to this.

How long I keep it

For as long as you are a client, and then I delete it within 30 days of our agreement ending. The exception is records I am legally required to keep for tax purposes — invoices and payment records — which I keep for as long as the law requires and no longer.

How I protect it

  • Encrypted storage and encrypted devices
  • Two-factor authentication on every account I use to run this business
  • Access to your accounts only on a screen share, while you are watching
  • A written list of exactly which of your accounts I may access, and nothing outside it

No system is perfectly secure and I will not claim otherwise. If your information is ever involved in a breach of my systems, I will tell you and your Family Contact promptly and tell you what to do.

Your rights

At any time, and without giving a reason, you may:

  • Ask what I hold about you — I will send you a copy
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Ask me to delete it — subject to tax records above
  • Remove any account from the list I am allowed to access
  • Change or remove your Family Contact — though the service requires that you name someone

Just ask. There is no form and no charge.

This website

This site does not use advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites. If you email or call me, I keep what you send so I can reply.

Children

This service is for adults. I do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.

Changes

If I change this policy I will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant I will tell existing clients directly rather than relying on you to notice.

Questions or complaints

Call me first — most things are a misunderstanding and I would rather fix it. You may also contact the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General, which handles consumer privacy complaints in this state.
